In 2004, FMSA Architects opened an office in Shanghai, China in partnership with BF Architects Pty Ltd. This overseas venture is a result of invitations received from government, commercial and private clients for architectural services that utilise FMSA's expertise and capacity to provide environmentally sustainable design solutions on a range of projects. The establishment of the partnership resulted in an invitation from the City of Wenzhou's Urban Planning Department to enter an international urban design competition.
