Education looks to the future and the new. Yet
it is also strongly committed to inherited values and traditions.
Whether it is for Reggio Emilia concepts of early childhood development;
team based integration in the Middle Years; learning with a sophisticated
and entrepreneurial focus at Senior School; or Information and
Communications Technology everywhere … education is looking
for new solutions and sometimes struggling with old facilities.
Characteristically, our clients:
- emphasise quality
- wish to combine strong aesthetic statement
with practicality
- seek flexibility
- demand high value for money
The FMSA approach is to invest the necessary time
to gain an in depth understanding of the individual setting, the
school culture, its many intense and complx activities, its people.
We ensure that we have thoroughly grasped the values, needs and
aspirations of our client.
On this foundation we truly can provide a contextual
design and unique solutions. We contribute added value by thinking ‘outside the square’, and being alert to strategic or
tactical opportunities. An FMSA master plan articulates the school
to the school – to its students, staff and community. It
manages spatial and functional relationships, the flow of people,
the aesthetic tone of buildings and landscape to achieve a human
scale, quality environment, as well as engineering and planning
elegance.
Naturally, ESD principles inform our designs.
In schools, we believe that it is important not just that the campus
or building is environmentally responsible. It must be seen to
be so – must demonstrate or even dramatise environmental
values to the students. Recent Projects
